Diovan HCT
bhager
I have been struggling with High Blood Pressure ~150/100 for a majority of the time after my heart attack (03-15-97) caused by my diagnosis of Prinzmetal.

At first the Doctors thought I was abusing Cocaine which I am to understand that is was of the main causes.

Actually, I believe it was caused by stress and a low tolerance after having food poisining just days prior to the attack coupled with the diagnosed disease.

The Cardiologist prescribed Cartia XT and have been on that in increasing doses ever since the attack(currently 240mg). A few years ago we started with hydrochlorothiazide with the cartia XT.

Getting worried that this was an ever increasing thing and being threatened with more medication, I began to excercise quite heavily in the AM before work and more bicycling.

Finally my cardiologist prescribed Diovan HCT. Within a week my blood pressure dove to ~120/70 dipping to ~115/60. Quite amazing.

What brought me back to this site is to bring this good news to all the members.

Here is what a medical website quotes on their site as to the action of Diovan HCT:

"Diovan works by preventing the hormone angiotensin II from narrowing the blood vessels, which tends to raise blood pressure."

That, to me, could be a direct fight against Prinzmetal. I would get those pinging feelings in the morning and tightness of chest. Possibly it was the increase in blood pressure or was it the Prinzmetal? Not sure, but most of that is gone and the only effects are the lightheadedness if I am bent over and rise too quickly.

Thanks for having this website. I welcome all comments and questions.

Joan, I have myocardial bridging. It is where a coronary artery is under the heart muscle instead of on top. Issue is can be squeezed and feel like a heart attack or is you CAD, can be serious. Usu
